Features and Use Condition of EI Transformers

What is an EI Transformers?

EI transformers is a kind of electronic device that the mains alternating voltage is changed into DC through the semiconductor switching device, and the electronic components and the high frequency transformer winding constitute a high frequency AC voltage output, it is also the so-called AC-DC inverter circuit in the electronic theory. In simple terms, it is mainly composed of the high-frequency transformer cores and two or more coils, which not mutually change location, from one or two or more electrical circuits via the AC power by means of electrically magnetic induction, and turn into the AC voltage and current. While at the output terminal of the high frequency mains transformers, it supplies the different voltage levels of the high frequency AC or DC for the one or two or more electricity circuits.

EI Transformer

Characteristics of EI Transformer

The input of EI transformer is AC12V, the output is AC220V, and its power can be up to 50W-300W. It is a transformer circuit primarily developed on the basis of high-frequency electronic ballast circuit. It has the features of stable performance, small size, and big power, thus overcoming the disadvantages of big body, bulky and high price of traditional silicon steel sheet transformer. EI transformers is the non-regulator switching power supply, it actually is an inverter. First, turn the AC into DC and then the electronic components is turned into a high-frequency oscillator to make the direct current into high frequency alternating current and through the switching transformer output the voltage required, and then the second rectifier provide for the use of appliances. Switching power supply has the advantages of small size, light weight, and low price, and now it is widely used in a variety of appliances.

Use Conditions of EI Transformer

Use Conditions of electronic transformer includes two aspects: Reliability and electromagnetic compatibility. In the past, people only pay attention to reliability, and now environmental protection awareness is improved, we must pay attention to electromagnetic compatibility. Reliability refers to that under the specific use conditions, the electronic transformer can work properly until the life. The general use condition of the electronic transformer is ambient temperature. Determine the electronic transformer temperature affect the strength parameter is the Curie point of the soft magnetic material. Curie point of soft magnetic materials is high, seldom affected by temperature; Curie point of soft magnetic materials is low, sensitive to temperature changes, and easy to be affected by temperature.

Do You Understand the Mains Transformer?

What is a Transformer?

Main transformer is a device to change the AC voltage by using the principle of electromagnetic induction means, and the main member is a primary coil, the secondary coil and the core. Main functions: voltage conversion, the current conversion, impedance transformation, isolation, regulator (magnetic saturation transformer). According to different uses, the transformers can be divided into: distribution transformers, power transformers, hermetically sealed transformer, combined transformer, dry type transformers, oil-immersed transformers, single-phase transformer, furnace transformer, rectifier transformer, and ei core transformer, etc.

Basic Components of Mains Transformer

Components of the mains transformers are including the body (core, windings, insulation, lead), transformer oil, transformer fuel tank and cooling devices, pressure regulating device, protection device (moisture, security airway gas relay, Chu oil tanks and temperature measurement devices, etc.) and the bushing. The core is the portion of the main magnetic circuit in the transformer. Usually higher silicon content, thickness were 0.35 mm \ 0.3mm \ 0.27 mm from the surface coated with insulating paint, hot-rolled or cold-rolled silicon steel sheet piled. The core is divided into two parts, the legs and the cross-piece and the leg sleeve windings; cross-piece is the use of the closed magnetic circuit. The core structure of the basic form is heart-and shell-and-two. Windings, the winding is the transformer circuit, it is double wire insulation flat line or enameled round wire wound into.

Operation and Maintenance of the Transformer

Prevent overload operation of the transformer: the long-term overload operation will cause coil heating, insulation gradually getting aging, resulting in a short inter-tray phase short circuit or shorted to ground and oil decomposition. Guarantee the quality of the insulating oil: transformer insulating oil in the storage, transportation or operation and maintenance, if the oil is of poor quality or impurities, too much water will reduce the insulation strength. When the dielectric strength is reduced to a certain value, the transformer will short circuit caused by spark, arc, or a dangerous temperature. Run transformer oil quality tests on a regular basis, and the substandard oil should be replaced. Prevent transformer core insulation aging damage: aging core insulation or the clamping bolt casing damage, and causes the core to produce a large vortex caused by the core long-term and heat insulation aging. Prevent to overhaul accidentally destroy insulation: transformer overhaul hanging core, should pay attention to the protection of the coil or insulated casing, if found to have abrasions injury, should be timely treatment.

Methods to Maintain and Preserve Transformer

Brief introduction of transformer

Transformer is one of the most normal electric appliances in distribution network. Transformer which consists of iron core and coil is used to exchange alternating voltage, current and impedance. Whether the mains transformers operate normally affect the safety of distribution network, so it is important to maintain it carefully.

Details to maintain transformer

Daily inspection, maintenance and regular test are extremely vital, and this procedure consists of many steps. Step1, according to its appearance we can check whether the external of transformer imports oil or the components smoke or discharge. Faults must be eliminated and oil should be added at once, and the problems that components become less crowded or loose contact should be solved. Step2, EI transformers in normal operation will produce a little noise, while its sound will change if there is something wrong. We should find out the reasons according to specific situation. Step3, check the greasy dirt and dust in sleeve, and clean them in time to prevent circuits from shorting caused by, moisture and lightening. So there will be staffs to test them every two months. Step 4, observe the color of oil and test the temperature regularly, especially in the bad weather. And temperature of top layer should not above 45 degree. Step5, examine the insulation resistance and the fastness of every lead. And we should pay more attention to the temperature of joint. Step6, measure more about electrical load in the rush hour, and adjust transformer with unbalanced three-phase current, in order to prevent the electric line from burning out. Step7, change and examine the fuss in regular time, in addition, aluminum wire is forbidden taking place of fuse. Fuse should match with transformer.

Prevent the damage from external

In the first place, select an appropriate place for installation and it should be next to the load centre, which should be controlled within 0.5km. At the same time, it should not be installed in the area of low-lying. Secondly, do not install low pressure metering box on distribution transformer, and the long time operation will damage the glass of metering box. Thirdly, tap switch is no allowed to be adjusted personally, in case that tap switch cannot be operated appropriately. Fourthly, add insulating cover to prevent natural disaster and damage from external. And we should also add insulating cover in the area with narrow road and forest with animals. Last but not the least, examine the line regularly and clear line gate to avoid some faults. Examine all the details to make sure the normal operation of transformer. Only in this way can you operate it in excellent condition.
