How to Choose A Good LED Driver

Today, we answer another one of your common questions, this time relating to the topic of LED Drivers.

Since the voltage and current requirements of the LED light bar are different from the main power supply (240V AC), in order to work, they need a separate unit called a LED driver.

An LED driver, sometimes referred to as a transformer or power, is a self-contained power supply, voltage and current requirements of the device it serves its output match. Working on a similar basis to the 12V transformers in MR16 spotlight systems, the AC LED driver takes the mains electricity supply and changes it to 12V DC.

The drives come in all shapes and sizes, not all are suitable for your purposes. When you select a driver, you should consider the following:

The power outlet you are using;

The size of your LED Strip Lights.

The two main varieties of LED driver; ready "plug and play" and mains ready.

As its name implies, the "plug and play" design of the driver, can be quickly and easily installed and require minimal expertise. The driver is connected to the power supply through the British standard 3-pin plug, and by the male and female connector, light bar.

Power driver is designed for more advanced equipment, can be hard-wired directly into a household power, usually through domestic household switch, a fully integrated lighting experience. An IP67 rating also makes them suitable for use in wet and damp conditions.

The type, you must select a size suitable rgb LED driver. The size of the driver is to measure the power consumption of watts and demand match, or contains, the LED light bar.

To calculate the load light bar, multiplied by the wattage per square meter, the total number of meters, are you going to run a single driver. This can be expressed as follows:

Watts per meter, the number of x meters = total power consumption (load)

For example, if you use the 10-meter-long LED light bar, consumption of 7.2 watts per meter over the entire load of 10 × 7.2 = 72 watts. In this particular example, a 100 watt drive will be sufficient.

www.mosopower.net is a leading RGB LED driver manufacturer in China, specializing in LED driver production. Our LED drivers are widely applied to portable consumer electrics, IT communication equipments, digital apparatuses, power-driven tools, etc.
