Detailed Introductions for Tile Production Process

China has brilliant achievements in ceramics production

China is a large ceramic production country, which has a long history and brilliant achievements in ceramics production. Foshan has become the powerhouse of the development of Chinese ceramics, which has brought together many leading ceramic brand companies, such as the new source, Dongpeng, Hemei ceramic, Bode tiles, etc. Do you know about the production process of polished tiles? Because there is little difference in the production process of the major companies, now we'll take Hemei as an example to introduce details about tile production process for everyone.

Detection before Tile raw material being put into use

The tile quality is largely depended by the quality of raw materials, so the tile raw materials must pass the detection of production workshop before being put into use. Usually the detection is mainly ignition loss, absorption rate and shrinkage rate. For added raw materials, there are basic mud and chemical materials. According to Hemei tile production workers, the basic types of Hemei tile products are roughly the same, of course, each series of the products also contain a special mud. As for the chemical material, the various pigments are used for the production of different colored tiles.

The formation process of the raw materials to tiles

The qualified tile raw materials after being tested will officially enter production. The first production process is grinding balls and making pulp, the general milling time is about 12 hours. The longer milling time is, then the finer particles. Subsequently, the stirrer will continuously stir, and the stirred slurry is atomized into fine droplets and to be evaporated to a powder. After the powder is made, it may discharge and produce at any time, which is pressed into tiles by the press machine. But usually the actual size of the pressed out ceramic floor tiles is larger than the specification size, this is because the tiles will shrink in the firing process.
The process from the tile to the finished product

It needs a series of steps from the finished products after the general shape of the tiles is completed. Because moisture content of tiles made by the press is high, it is likely to cause the tile chapped, deformation and other defects if carrying out glazing print and directly firing into the kiln. It must go into the drying kiln to be dried to reach qualified moisture content. In this case, glaze using centrifugal rejection glaze, pressure (water jet) spray enamel and bell leaching glaze. Then, firing by the kiln is followed. Different companies have different kiln time, take Hemei tile for example, the firing time is about 70-80 minutes and temperature is 1200℃. Fired tiles need milling, chamfering and polishing. The last step is grading. The grading generally has amount deformation, quality sorting, size detection and color separation processes. At this point, the tiles have been finished.
